Halloween Movies

It’s Halloweek! I will be posting Halloween themed posts, starting today, until the end of October on both this blog and my fitness blog!

The first post for Halloweek is about my favourite Halloween movies. Below are some of my favourite Halloween themes movies. These list is based around movies that are set during Halloween so not necessarily all of them are going to be horror/thriller movies.

Note: my opinion (?) is in italics and the movie’s synopsis’ is in normal (?) text. All synopsis’ have been taken from IMDB!

The Halloween Series
Of course these movies was going to be on this list.

On Halloween night of 1963, six-year-old Michael Myers stabbed his sister to death. After sitting in a mental hospital for 15 years, Myers escapes and returns to Haddonfield to kill.

The Nightmare Before Christmas
Again, obviously this movie was going to be included in this list!

Jack Skellington, king of Halloween Town, discovers Christmas Town, but doesn’t quite understand the concept.

This was one of my favourite Halloween movies to watch when I was younger.

After learning she is a witch, a girl (Kimberly J. Brown) helps save a town full of other supernatural creatures.

Trick ‘r Treat
Personally I’ve never seen this movie but I just watched the trailer and as soon as I finished writing this blog post I am 110% going to watch this movie!

Five interwoven stories that occur on Halloween: An everyday high school principal has a secret life as a serial killer; a college virgin might have just met the guy for her; a group of teenagers pull a mean prank; a woman who loathes the night has to contend with her holiday-obsessed husband; and a mean old man meets his match with a demonic, supernatural trick-or-treater.

Spooky Buddies
It’s a cute movie! If you don’t like scary movies but want to watch a Hallow-themed movie during Halloween watch Spooky Buddies! It’s a movie about talking puppies!

The puppies go on a spooky adventure through a haunted mansion.

Donnie Darko
It’s a good indie film for the early 2000’s. And it has Jake Gyllenhaal, Drew Barrymore and Patrick Swayze in it!

A troubled teenager is plagued by visions of a large bunny rabbit that manipulates him to commit a series of crimes, after narrowly escaping a bizarre accident.

Hocus Pocas
If you haven’t seen this movie, please don’t talk to me until you have.

After three centuries, three witch sisters are resurrected in Salem, Massachusetts on Halloween night, and it is up to two teenagers, a young girl and an immortal cat to put an end to the witches’ reign of terror once and for all.

E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial
If you haven’t seen ET at least twice, who are you?

A troubled child summons the courage to help a friendly alien escape Earth and return to his home-world.

Monster House
I actually really liked this movie when I was younger.

Three teens discover that their neighbor’s house is really a living, breathing, scary monster.

Satan’s Little Helper
If you like dark humour you’ll probably like this.

A naive young boy unknowingly becomes the pawn of a serial killer.

He’s the friendly ghost!

A paranormal expert and his daughter bunk in an abandoned house populated by 3 mischievous ghosts and one friendly one.

Best non-horror Halloween movie ever!

Two teen witches who were separated at birth and were adopted by two different families meet on their 21st birthday and must use their powers to save the world in which they were born, where their birth mother still lives.

What’s your favourite Halloween movie?
